Postively Identify a Shipwreck on the Tweed Coast

December 8 2017

We have some theories on the ID of this barge, sitting in 53msw just beyond Cook Island on the Tweed Coast, Northern NSW.

Having spotted some stacked cargo with the appearance of railway track segments, we plan to return with tools to remove some encrustation and take accurate measurements of the cargo to check against shipping manifests.

We've made a few dives, however due to conditions on the wreck, we've been unable to make a positive ID as yet. Some sources call it the "cane barge" but we're not sure the profile fits.
